A staunch advocate for sick children, Francesca has achieved the following
in her quest to make the public aware of the Children’s Skin Disease
Foundation and its mission:
Francesca was chosen to tell her story on the nationally televised Montel
Williams Show which aired repeatedly during 2007.
Each year, nine remarkable young adults, who have taken action to measurably
strengthen their communities, are rewarded by the Do Something Brick
Award. Francesca received the award at their Gala in New
York City on April 2006 with a grant going to the Children’s Skin Disease
Foundation (CSDF).
Searching for a poignant story to be told, Michael Media Productions in Los Angeles
and their sponsor, Kohl’s Department Stores, chose Francesca’s
story about the Children’s Skin Disease Foundation. They featured
Camp Wonder and CSDF in a one hour nationally syndicated television special, The
Transformation Nation in 2006.
The San Francisco Chronicle featured Francesca and the Children’s Skin
Disease Foundation as the recipient of the Bay Area Jefferson Award for
making a difference in the community in 2006. The CSDF story, profiled
in The San Francisco Chronicle, was featured on CBS5-TV and KCBS-AM 740 Radio,
which along with The Chronicle, are Jefferson Award media
partners.
In Glamour’s forty-eighth annual competition,
Francesca was named one of the “Top 10 College Women to Watch for” in Glamour
Magazine in 2005 featuring women about to take the world by storm.
Francesca was among one of five honorees at the Diablo Magazine’s Threads
of Hope Award at the Blackhawk Auto Museum in Northern California,
in recognition of her dedication, hard work and caring attitude which strengthen
the fabric of our community. Francesca accepted this award for the children,
supporters and volunteers of CSDF who exemplify commitment and compassion for
the cause.
